The most important aspect of the straight-cut jean relates to the shoe that is being worn underneath it. If the ankle opening is too large, the cuffs of the jeans will drag on the ground and eventually ruin the jeans. With small leg openings, the length of the jean doesn't matter, and a tapered pair of jeans can look very good if done properly. Overall, it's about proportion and, depending on the size of the guy, the legs of the jeans will vary in tightness.
